The AI expectations gap

AnnouncementResearchOct 16, 2026

A survey by Szymon Sacher, Tess Cotter, Charles I. Jones, Anton Korinek, and Peter McCrory finds that 91% of Anthropic staff expect AI to make a Nobel-level discovery by 2030, versus 39% of US adults. Staff also expect far larger productivity gains and more automation of their own work. Both groups, however, link expected AI automation of their jobs to higher forecast unemployment in similar ways.
