Basecamp Research has raised $140 million led by S32, with Nvidia, Anthropic's Anthology Fund, the NATO Innovation Fund, and Redalpine participating. The London-based startup trains its EDEN AI models on DNA from environmental samples collected across more than 30 countries to design antibiotics and cell therapies. CTO Philip Lorenz told THE DECODER that biology requires more data than language. So far, results are limited to lab work and mouse studies; human trials have yet to prove safety and efficacy.
