AI hardware can be hacked so chatbots provide dangerous answers, research shows

AchievementResearchOct 29, 2026

Research by security firm Eclypsium, shared with CNN, shows that attackers with network access to data center hardware can alter AI model weights and skew chatbot answers, including medical and national security queries, in under a minute. Eclypsium, staffed by former Intel engineers, demonstrated the attack on an Nvidia platform; Nvidia said it found nothing new and that memory access protections can block it. CEO Yuriy Bulygin said models cannot be trusted without trusted infrastructure.
