Former Deepmind researcher thinks AlphaGo's playbook can cure AI hallucinations

AnnouncementResearchOct 27, 2026

Former Deepmind researcher Thore Graepel founded Metis Reasoning to make AI systems more reliable, presenting the approach at Nvidia's GTC conference in Berlin. The proposal uses AlphaGo's search-based method as a blueprint: an external knowledge ledger stores what a system knows, and a separate module verifies each assumption against evidence. Metis says the design could reduce hallucinations and support smaller models in robots, but it remains a theoretical framework with no working system or benchmarks.
