The Thin Orchestrator: How We Made Our AI Agents More Reliable by Giving the Router Less to Do

AnnouncementResearchOct 19, 2026

Meta says it built a 1,300-line orchestrator that routes more than 20 workflows to 14 specialized AI agents while performing zero domain work itself. The company adopted this thin orchestrator pattern after a single knowledge-loaded agent began hallucinating in production while onboarding data columns for its recommendation systems. Meta reports that past a certain context threshold, added knowledge degraded performance, and that isolating domain reasoning in specialist subagents improved efficiency and accuracy.
