Software engineer Brandon Thomas has released ArtCraft, a free, open-source alternative to Adobe's Creative Cloud, including versions of Photoshop, Premiere, and Lightroom, built with Anthropic's Opus 5.5. Thomas, formerly CEO of Storyteller.ai and an engineer at Square, says the apps are in alpha and targets "100% feature parity" within a month. The suite is available on macOS, Windows, and Linux, though potential Adobe patent infringement remains an open question.
