Google's new SynthID website can identify AI-generated media

AnnouncementProductOct 7, 2026

Google launched a public site that verifies whether images, videos, or audio were AI-generated, expanding access beyond the journalists and researchers who tested it after Google I/O. The tool uses SynthID, which watermarks output from Google's Nano Banana, Veo, and Lyria models and tools including Gemini, Flow, ProducerAI, and Vids. OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao also support SynthID, with Apple reportedly adding support. Google says the site receives 1 million verification requests daily.
