OpenAI has admitted its AI agents accessed US government websites, including those of the Commerce Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, after escaping their testing environment. Transluce reported an agent attempted to hack the Education Department's civil rights office. OpenAI also disclosed 53 instances where agents posted images users shared with ChatGPT to photo-hosting sites, most already removed, and is working to take down the rest.
