Microsoft Open-Sources Agensh: A Multi-Agent Harness for 1,024 Agents

AnnouncementResearchOct 25, 2026

Microsoft Research open-sourced Agensh, a harness that coordinates up to 1,024 coding agents with no central orchestrator, with each worker claiming sub-tasks via Git, messaging and a shared findings board. On ProgramBench's five hardest tasks, 128 agents raised the mean pass rate from 19.31% to 28.78% on GPT-5.6-sol; GPT-6.1-sol with 32 agents hit 79.59% on pandoc. Roles like reviewer and integrator emerged without being hard-coded.
