Is Claude Code truly faster with message threads? I did the math on my logs - ZDNET

AchievementProductNov 3, 2026

Anthropic reports that message threads reduce Claude's median time-to-first-token by 35% for large requests. The feature, enabled by default for most Claude Code users, lets agents send only changes since the last turn instead of the full conversation, improving responsiveness in sessions with 500,000 to 1 million token contexts. The author's projections estimate 2 to 4 minutes saved per four-hour session. Token usage and costs remain unchanged, and the feature does not affect Claude's reasoning or context management.
