How AT&T is rethinking in-house legal work with OpenAI

AnnouncementProductOct 21, 2026

AT&T is partnering with OpenAI to expand LegalEdge, its team applying AI to major legal matters, in support of in-house lawyers. General Counsel David McAtee says the partnership will build the "plumbing" powering a company-wide knowledge layer. Planned initiatives include a natural-language intake system that classifies and prioritizes requests and links them to precedent and past work. McAtee states that decision making will remain with lawyers.
