Profiling TorchNeuron (Part 1): System-level profiling on AWS Trainium.

AnnouncementProductOct 21, 2026

AWS has published the first part of a series on profiling TorchNeuron, its open source PyTorch backend for AWS Trainium. The tutorial shows how to configure torch.profiler with the Neuron backend, read the key_averages() table, and trace operations in Neuron Explorer from dispatch to hardware execution. It profiles three RMSNorm implementations—naive PyTorch operations, torch.rms_norm(), and torch.compile—using identical inputs and settings, with reproduction scripts in the torch-neuronx examples directory.
