Ai2's HiRO-ACEv2 generates global 3 km climate data at roughly 1/300th the cost of X-SHiELD, a high-resolution global atmospheric model. The updated system pairs ACE, a 100 km AI model, with the new downscaling model HiROv2, which predicts multiple high-resolution fields and matches target statistics to within 3% for events occurring once in a million data points. It accurately estimates tropical cyclone energy and produces realistic hurricanes, though eye-region winds remain somewhat lopsided.
