Deepseek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats larger rivals in agentic tasks while once again massively cutting per-task costs

AnnouncementModelOct 17, 2026

Deepseek has released Deepseek-V4.1-Flash-1017, publishing open weights on Hugging Face and ModelScope. Trained with reinforcement learning using self-feedback, the model produces shorter outputs and, in Deepseek's internal benchmarks, beats larger rivals including Claude Opus 5 and GPT 5.6-Sol on coding and agent tasks, scoring 77.0 percent on DeepSWE at under $0.20 per task. Deepseek also opened its internal search engine to developers via Search and Fetch APIs at $0.75 per 1,000 calls.
