Apple sounds the alarm on AI agents and 'Full Disk Access' - Engadget

AnnouncementProductOct 2, 2026

Apple says it will add additional controls to macOS "Full Disk Access" to protect users from AI agents. The company warned that some developers grant agents access to files, mail, messages and browsing history without users' full understanding. Desktop clients such as OpenClaw, Dots and Muse often request Full Disk Access to perform tasks. Apple did not specify timing or details, but said explicit user action will be required for such extraordinary access.
