Anthropic has confirmed to TechCrunch that it operates a wet biology lab in the Bay Area, where its AI models can run physical experiments. Life sciences head Eric Kauderer-Abrams told Reuters the lab conducts research and works with external partners. Anthropic acquired Coefficient Bio in April and says the lab focuses on fundamental biology rather than drug discovery, amid a Novo Nordisk drug-discovery partnership. Dario Amodei recently urged industry self-regulation, citing bioterrorism risks.
