OpenAI has launched Astra for Law, a legal-focused version of its GPT-6 Astra model paired with a search index covering US case law, statutes, and regulations. Using Free Law Project data, it passed 54 percent of Vals AI's Legal Research Bench questions versus 38.7 percent for GPT-6 Astra with web search. API customers including Harvey and Legora can build on it, with 26 plugins for tools like Relativity and Clio. Anthropic is also expanding in legal AI.
