UBS analysts found that AI chatbots including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Muse most often recommend Walmart for everyday shopping, based on 12 prompts tested across three states. Costco also ranked consistently for quality and bulk purchases, while Amazon.com appeared less often than expected. Analysts led by Bill Peters' MarketWatch report said AI recommendations may become a new competitive front, with retailers potentially gaining advantage through data partnerships and catalog integrations.
