VRChat says it's not adding AI labels despite user survey showing people want that - Engadget

AnnouncementPolicyOct 29, 2026

VRChat has announced it will not add AI content labels, despite 95 percent of surveyed users saying they want some form of AI designation. The company said it is still considering a "Human-authored" label and a "Tools used" field but has taken no definitive stance. VRChat cited concerns that creators could mislabel AI-assisted work and that labeling might encourage harassment or "sleuthing" behavior. Instead, it will implement changes with broader community alignment, including accurate thumbnails and improved discovery tools.
