Vercel Labs Open-Sources agent-desktop for Agent Computer Use

AnnouncementProductOct 31, 2026

Vercel Labs released agent-desktop, an open-source CLI and C library that lets AI agents operate native desktop apps through OS accessibility trees rather than screenshots. Version 1.0.2 shipped October 30, 2026, under Apache-2.0, running on macOS, Windows and Linux on x64 and ARM64 CPUs. Agents receive JSON snapshots with element refs and act headlessly without moving the pointer. Builder-reported skeleton traversal cuts tokens 78–96% on dense Electron apps; no independent benchmark exists.
