OpenAI has committed $5 million, plus up to $5 million in software credits and engineering support, to expand the Lenfest AI Collaborative and Fellowship Program, doubling its previous backing. The Lenfest Institute for Journalism said the program, launched in 2024 with AI engineering fellows at 11 major U.S. news organizations, is the largest AI fellowship program in American journalism. A new cohort of news organizations will be invited to join for responsible AI experimentation.
