OpenEnv in Practice: Evaluating Tool-Using Agents in Real-World Environments

OpenEnv is an open-source framework from Meta and Hugging Face for evaluating AI agents against real systems rather than simulations. Turing contributed a production-grade calendar management environment called the Calendar Gym to study tool-using agents under realistic constraints including access control, temporal reasoning, and multi-agent coordination. The framework uses a gym-oriented API and standard MCP tool call interface, enabling agents to interact with real APIs while maintaining state across multiple actions for reliable evaluation.
