How to use Google's SynthID AI detection website - Engadget

AnnouncementProductOct 18, 2026

Google has opened its SynthID Detector to all users at SynthID.com, letting anyone upload an image, video, or audio file to check for SynthID watermarks embedded by Gemini and partner models including OpenAI's. The tool returns a yes-or-no answer, cannot detect media from models that don't use SynthID, and limits users to roughly 10 checks per day while logged in. Google says signatures persist through edits, though no detector reliably identifies all generative AI.
