Few people pay for AI, but those who do spend big

AnnouncementBenchmarkOct 10, 2026

Andreessen Horowitz's seventh Top 100 AI list adds US consumer spending data from YipitData, showing only 4.5 percent of US consumers held paid subscriptions to ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude in August. The top one percent of payers spends about $900 monthly, versus roughly $25 for typical users. ChatGPT retains the top spot with roughly double Gemini's web traffic and six times Claude's, while subscriptions dominate AI revenue over advertising.
