A pre-release build of NVIDIA's DLSS 5, extracted from the early-access PC version of NBA 2K27, is being applied unofficially to games with mixed results. The neural rendering feature aims to add photoreal lighting and materials, but early outputs appear uncanny—likened to Midjourney restyling game stills—and can halve performance, with Control reportedly dropping from 71 to 35 fps at 4K on an RTX 5070 Ti. NVIDIA plans an official launch this fall.
