Claude Code sessions can now talk to each other and share context across terminals

AnnouncementProductAug 8, 2026

Anthropic updated Claude Code to enable inter-session messaging on macOS and Linux, allowing sessions to share context and coordinate workflows across terminals. Local communication occurs on the same machine, while cross-machine routing goes through Anthropic's servers with responses only. Admins can restrict the feature via settings. It is not available on Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Agent Platform, or Microsoft Foundry.
