Apple is adding an AI chatbot to Pages, Keynote, and Numbers

Why it matters

Apple is extending its AI push beyond core operating system features into everyday productivity and creative software. The company is embedding an assistant, powered by its own models alongside OpenAI's, into Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, where it can handle slide design and animation, drafting and reorganizing text, and data calculation and visualization. Notably, these apps now support Model Context Protocol on recent macOS, opening the door for third-party AI agents to integrate directly with Apple's software, a meaningful step toward interoperability in a historically closed ecosystem. The rollout arrives in beta on devices that support Apple Intelligence. Beyond productivity, Apple is updating its creative tools: Pixelmator Pro gains a prompt-based Generate Fill editing feature, Logic Pro receives a redesign plus an assistant that can set up vocal tracks and edit projects, and Final Cut Pro adds templates, graphics, and a built-in Content Hub with stock media. Together, the updates show Apple applying AI across nearly its entire app portfolio rather than in isolated features.
