Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark moves his prediction for self-improving AI forward to 2027

SpeculationBenchmarkOct 25, 2026

A new benchmark from P-Zero Research, TasteVal, found that Anthropic's top model matched expert-level experiment design and interpretation with less than half the compute used by 24 human experts. The benchmark's compute multiplier has roughly doubled every three months since December 2025. Based on these results, Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark moved his prediction for recursive self-improvement forward from 2028 to as early as 2027. The authors caution the results may overstate improvement.
