Alibaba Group Holding's Damo Academy has open-sourced Damo Radar, a vision-language model that analyzes contrast-enhanced CT scans across 18 abdominal organs to identify nearly 150 conditions, including cancers. In nearly 40,000 real-world examinations, the model achieved an average AUC of 0.913 across 146 clinical findings, which the team says outperformed most radiologists. Researchers described it as an expert-level generalist medical imaging model and said the training method may extend to other imaging types.
